RESILIENT LANDSCAPES

SOCIO‐ECOLOGICAL DYNAMICS AND DISTURBANCES IN LANDSCAPE PLANNING

The objective of the subject is increasing awareness of the landscape conditions and their interaction with the landscape project such as earthworks, planting, forestal management or ephemeral interventions

The practical part of the subject is based on empirical work in a specific location. This fact will allow students to learn on site the most significant characteristics of the landscape, to generate a project reflection and to test in situ the project through action.

The theoretical part of the subject consists on an introduction of landscape composition with the aim of presenting to the students a collection of projectual approaches through the different elements of the landscape.

On the other hand, the subject aims to introduce students to the knowledge of transversal and complementary disciplines to landscape architecture, such as gardening, forest management, landscape ecology and environmental art, among others. The subject has the participation of professionals from those disciplines to complement their knowledge with the students as well as introduce relevant aspects to be taken into account from the project.

One of the main objectives is the communication of the results through the landscape representation. The work of the course must be documented and subsequently presented through a collection that serves as an explanation of the process from the sketch to action.
