ENRIC BATLLE
Phd Architect, Landscape Architect & MBLandArch Director
Associate professor of the Department of Urbanism, Territorial Planning and Landscape UPC. His PhD thesis “The Garden of the Metropolis” received the UPC’s Extraordinary Doctorate Prize and the FAD Prize Theory and Criticism. He is a founding partner of Batlle i Roig Arquitectura, the multidisciplinary recognized office based in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. His current research is focused on the Green infrastructure of the new Metropolitan Urbanistic Director Plan – PDU as chair of the Landscape division.
LIDIA CARRILLO
Architect, Landscape Architect
Adjunt professor of the Department of Agri-Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC. She is working as a senior landscape architect in Batlle i Roig architecture. Her current work is focused on the urbanization of pedestrian streets and urban greenery. She is specialized in analysis and representation of landscape. Her current research focuses on the representation of cartography using IA of the emocional landscapes, the Invisible Landscapes.
XAVIER FÀBREGAS
Agricultural Engineer, Agronomist
Collaborating professor of the Department of Agri Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC. Director of Barcelona School of Agri-food and Biosystems Engineering and Former Deputy Head of Studies. Former Coordinator and Professor of the Graduate Program in Landscape Gardening and the UPC. Former Coordinator of the degree in Agro-environment Landscape. Specialized in Horticulture and Gardening. His main research area is the ecophysiology of the Mediterranean shrubs, specifically their hydric stress response.
LUÍS MALDONADO
Architect
Collaborating professor of the Department of Agri Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC. He is a PhD candidate with the thesis entitled ‘Paper Gardens’. International Relationship coordinator for the Barcelona School of Agri-food and Biosystems Engineering. Coordinator of the Landscape degree and the EMiLA program. His ongoing research and professional practice deals with open space design and planning linking agriculture and forestry to landscape and cities crossing processes and new forms of nature.
PEPA MORÁN
PhD Architect, Landscape architect, Urbanist
Assistant professor of the Department of Urbanism, Territorial Planning and Landscape UPC. She is a doctor with thesis entitled “Disruptive landscapes: the representation of wildfires in the Mediterranean landscape’. She is the founder of her own studio El obrador. Former Landscape architect for the River Llobregat Team in the Association of Municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona. She is founder of Paisea Landscape Magazine.
JAVI ZALDÍVAR
Architect, Landscape Architect
Adjunct professor of the Department of Urbanism, Territorial Planning and Landscape UPC. CEO at Javi Zaldivar Paisatge i Architecture focused in landscape & public space projects. Former landscape director for the awarded redevelopment of Guanabara’s Bay waterfront. Former landscape architect at Batlle i Roig Arquitectes. Professor at international workshops in Brasil, Berlin, Versailles, Austria, Italy or China. His research project will be ‘the importance of projectuals decisions in the later management of public spaces’.

ALBERT BESTARD
Agricultural Technical Engineer, Landscape Architect
Adjunt professor of the Department of Agri-Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC. Director of the study AB Paisatgistes SL. Former site supervisor for Landscape contractor ACSA Barcelona and former Landscape Architect at Nigeria. His research is focused on the recovery of streams and water cycle and the analytical capacity of the existing biotic environment and the definition of constructive solutions to integrate the green element into the urban environment.
SARA BARTUMEUS
Architect, Landscape Architect
Adjunct professor of the Department of Urbanism, Territorial Planning and Landscape UPC. Associate Professor at the Illinois School of Architecture. Her professional activity, as principal of Renau Bartumeus Arquitectes, involves landscape, urban design, planning and architecture. Former member of the City of Barcelona Architecture Committee, the COAC Advisory Committee and the International Biennial of Landscape Architecture. Her current research projects focus on Barcelona’s Urban Landscape Identity.

Adjunct professor of the Department of Urbanism, Territorial Planning and Landscape UPC. She is a PhD candidate with thesis entitled ‘Roadscapes’. She is the founder of her own Landscape and Urbanism Studio in Barcelona. She works also as Vicepresident of Professional Practice and Policies of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), Executive Committee Director of the International Biennial of Landscape Barcelona and the Coordinator of the Landscape Architecture Office at the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC).
DANIEL GÓMEZ DE ZAMORA
Biologist, Landscape Architect
Adjunt professor of the Department of Agri-Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC. Partner at (AZ) medi ambient i paisatge where he carries out studies and projects related to urban and territorial planning and management as well as to landscape and biodiversity conservation. Specialist in ecological and landscape restoration works. He complements his professional activity with research in urban ecology.
MARTÍ FRANCH
Agricultural Engineer, Landscape Architect
Adjunct professor of the Department of Urbanism, Territorial Planning and Landscape UPC. He is a PhD candidate with the thesis entitled 'Research through Design' by RMIT Melbourne. Founder manager of EMF landscape architecture is a consultancy in the public and territorial space project that explores hybrid forms between ecological and cultural systems to construct efficient, lively, adaptable and character-based landscapes. His works have been awarded with several main prizes for the discipline of landscape architecture.
JORDI IZQUIERDO
PhD in Agronomy
Associate Professor of the Department of Agri-Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC. He is a professor of Pest and Weed control in the ESAB – UPC. Membership of several national and international societies and member of the scientific committee in 3 national weed symposiums. His international research work mainly focuses on weed management and ecology.
ALEXANDRE GAUTHIER
Architect, GIS and Data science expert.
Associate professor of the Department of Architectural technology. He is the founder of his own office. Former architect in the Urbanism Department of Santa Susanna City Council. He applies his experience in GIS technologies, BIM and data processing in the development and planning of the territory, environmental analyses, as well as in planning management.
JOSEP MERCADÉ
PhD Architect, Civil Engineer
Assistant professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering UPC. He is a doctor thesis entitled “Taming the road: a GIS-based visualisation and spatial analysis methodology towards retrofitting the intermediate urban mosaics”
He works as a freelancer in the fields of architecture, urban planning and civil engineering. Former worker of the studio Foster + Partners of London. Former researcher and visiting professor at ETH Zurich.
MARÍA DEL MAR PÉREZ
Architect
Adjunct professor of the Department of Architectural Technology UPC. She is specialized in Sustainable construction of public space. She is a doctoral candidate with thesis entitled ‘Reduction of drinking water consumption in the city of Barcelona and environmental improvement thanks to Wsuds’. Multidisciplinary professional practice at her own architecture studio. She is a proffesor in the Architecture Bachelor degree and has been at the Technology Master in Architecture UPC and the Sustainable Town Planning Professional Master.

IOANNA SPANOU
PhD Architect, Landscape Architect
Adjunct professor of the Department of Urbanism, Territorial Planning and Landscape UPC. Her PhD thesis ¨Mapping Atmosphere: rehearsals in mediterranean landscapes¨ received the UPC’s Extraordinary Doctorate Prize. Architect and landscape architect at the Department of Urban Strategy and Analysis in Barcelona Regional, Urban Development Agency. Her current research focuses on cartography as a tool that interprets reality and engenders the re-configuration of the metropolitan landscape.

VÍCTOR ADORNO
Biologist, Landscape Architect
Specialist in environmental and systems biology. Former worker in (az) paisatge where he carries out projects always linked to ecological processes and strategical studies for urban and territorial planning. He is currently working with Melanie Theodosopoulou in their own studio, VM paisaje, dedicated to public space interventions, cartographic analysis and lanscape studies and research. Field researcher in nature conservation projects for years, he focuses on the understanding of the process based on contact with the environment and on-site experimentation.
LARA DEL VALLE
Architect, Landscape Architect
She works in collaboration with Pepa Morán and (az) paisatge, developing cartographies, territorial planning and projects of environmental restoration and public space. She is interested in research the transformative energy of the landscape and pursues a project strategy as a collaborative and transdisciplinary experimental process that merges ecology, sociology, culture and economy to ensure new bonds with the environment.
MARIO SUÑER
Architect
Adjunct professor in the Department of Urbanism and Regional Planning UPC. Associate & Vice- director of Landscape Projects at Batlle I Roig. His professional experience in Batlle i Roig is intensely related with the Llobregat River, as a metroplitan public & natural space. He works actively in many projects along this river in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area as the development of the future Llobregat Blue Path and the development of parks & neighbourhoods for the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. The central theme of his research project will be ‘the new sustainable mobility and its potential in the landscape transformation, merging city and nature’.
MELANIE THEODOSOPOULOU
Architect, Landscape architect
Currently working with Victor Adorno in their own studio, VM paisaje, dedicated to public space interventions, cartographic analysis and landscape studies and research. Collaborates with (az) paisatge and several studios of architecture and urban planning. Former landscape architect at Doxiadis+ based in Athens. Her research interest focuses on the development of comprehensive cartographies that can incorporate landscape parameters and criteria, into territorial and urban planning strategies.
